The great American poet Carl Sandberg was once asked:

“What is the ugliest word in the English language?”.

He thought for a moment and replied: “Exclusion”.

 

LGBTQ+ people know about exclusion. We have historically been excluded from the security, opportunities, respect and sometimes love that is freely given to most others, simply because of who we are. So we have learned to forge our own bright worlds... of friends, self-respect, community, pride & joy.

The Rainbow Seniors ROC Community Center is just such a place. Funded by generous supporters in our community, it is a hub of activity for all ages. Seniors enjoy yoga, lunch & learns, activities such as Euchre or Book Club, and receive social service support. Additionally, a dozen other LGBTQ+ groups use the space, bringing activities for youth, families, Trans folks, musicians, crafters, organizers, and community educators.

The expanding use of the Center is fabulous... but problematic. We have reached the point where our wonderful volunteer teams need the support and guidance of a paid Center Director.

We need your help to hire a Community Center Director

It takes an adequate, predictable monthly income for us to be able to hire someone. If you are not currently a sustaining monthly donor, we ask that you become one. And if you already give each month, please consider raising your contribution level.
